I love shooting on the Jersey Shore in the summer, especially when you have a quaint beach house 1 block from the beach, 2 bicycles and an amazing couple! Manasquan is a quiet little beach town down the shore. Tim and Kim come here every summer to enjoy the beach and their friends and family. The beach house is conveniently located 1 block from the beach and all the action. I loved hearing the history of how the family has been coming to the shore every summer and how the town recovered from the big hurricane from years back. The rooms were filled with stacked beds and little room to walk. It was so “jersey shore”. 😀 It was great to hang out before the shoot and just chill. I really got a good feel of who they were as a couple. Genuine. Chill. Easy going kind of Love. We were all pretty excited to ride bikes around town. It’s almost essential to have a bike while you’re staying in the beach house…so fun and makes for great for getting around. I think we got a couple of honks that cheered us on and a couple that said get out of the way! We then took a walk and they showed me some of the hot spots along the shore where they spend their time on weekends. The beach was fairly clear, as it usually is in the late afternoon- perfect for shooting photos.
We all had plans to get wet towards the end of the session. I was shooting two cameras on as I was shooting on the shore line. Kim and Tim were up on the jetty far away as a huge wave crashed into me dunking my cameras in the water. I was like OMG! So, after my cameras to took a swim, I decided to pull out the GoPro and give it a whirl. This was a sure way to be safe as I was half way in the water at this point! It’s such a fun camera to play with and get really unique perspectives. Now back to the getting wet part… I had Tim and Kim sit on the rocks of the jetty and wait for the perfect wave to crash. It takes a few minutes to wait for the perfect wave to crash and in the mean time they were all snuggled up waiting patiently with their toes in the sand. All of a sudden, CRASH!, a huge wave went all the way around and over them. It completely soaked them! HA! At this point we realized it was time to just go completely wild and get in the water. OMG, so much fun!
The outdoor shower back at the shore house was a perfect way to end the evening. I am now obsessed with creating the perfect outdoor shower for my home. It’s exhilarating! Many congrats to the happy couple as they continue on their great adventure. Thank you for sharing a piece of your world with me and completely letting go and jumping in the ocean with me. It was something I will treasure.
