Rock Island Lake Club is located in the quiet, small town of Sparta. Winding roads, green trees, and small lakes greet you as you enter the small town. Alison and Jake have an easy going, quiet kind of love and the lake club reflected their personality and taste perfectly. The first time we met the happy couple was for their engagement in the rain. We were lucky enough to get a full rainbow at the end of their photo session! Since then we have become friends and even battled against each other in an epic game night! Arriving at the wedding to friends is such a great way to start such a special day. The girls were getting ready in full party mode with champagne flowing, great music, and of course great dance moves. The girls were so excited for Alison and you could see it in their smiles. The big picture window in the bridal suite looked over the lake where the ceremony would take place. It was the perfect place to peek out and see all of the happenings of the day unfolding. There was a brief, quiet moment right before the ceremony when Alison had a few moments to rest. That is when it hit her hard- she was getting married. The tears ran down her face as her Maid of Honor wiped her cheeks. We love the soft, in between moments like this…the anticipation of what is to come has time to sink in and remind us of why we are there.

Alison walked down a winding path to the dock overlooking the water as Jake waited to see her for the first time. It was an epic reveal with an incredible view. Little did they know, the family was watching silently from atop the venue with smiles and tears. After taking a moment to soak everything in, Jake and Alison heard a roaring cheer from all of their family and best friends. Surprise! The cloudy Spring day was perfect as we trekked back into the woods to shoot some epic portraits. Hanging from the golf cart we road down the bumpy trail where we fond a tree swing and constantly checked each other for bugs and ticks! EEK! All in a hard days work, I suppose! 🙂 The ceremony was set against the lake and the sun came out to shine on the happy couple. The officiant was hilarious and kept everyone smiling and entertained. It was a perfect start to their marriage. The reception was like no other!! Epic speeches, big laughs, and crazy dance moves. The band kept everyone sweating as they threw down all the greatest hits of the 90’s. It felt like we were at the greatest 90’s music concert! We kept catching ourselves dancing and singing along with everyone- SO GOOD! A sparkler exit ended the night and a giant school bus took the newlyweds to their final destination.

We enjoyed every minute of this beautiful wedding with friends. We are honored to tell your love story, Ali and Jake! Congrats again and welcome to married life!
