The title to this blog makes it sound like our home is ridiculously amazing. ha! In reality, it is a home that we have tried to make our own with recycling things from our hold home. There were a few key purchases to allow us to live in a smaller space, but overall it is just stuff we moved around to make it feel new again.
It has been a huge adjustment moving form Texas to New Jersey. It has been an emotional roller coaster for sure. The first week I was determined to make a home I had never seen with my eyes into the home my family would need. Then the second week was relaxing as my mom stayed with us and we ventured out together during the day and watched tv together at night. Then the third week came–oh the third week!! What a tough week this has been. I have cried more this week than I have in years. Some happy tears and some sad tears. Overall, I know we made the right choice, but sometimes the quiet times really get to me.

Thumbs down
- I miss my family
- It’s super pricey here
- Business is slow; trying to meet new faces & get connected
- People are not as sweet here…they are very kind and helpful! But something about that Texas charm…
- I feel very alone here.
- It’s hard to ‘get to know’ people
- Making new friends at my age is tough!
- My level of patience!
- I get lost even with my GPS
- We have 4-5 designated trash cans and a recycling calendar that is forever confusing!
- We don’t have a formal pantry- so we created one from Ikea storage units!
I have been spending a lot more time being quiet. Praying. Listening. I am not editing and shooting every day like I used to be. I know that building a new clientel is going to take time, but it is so hard to slow down this fast. I’m trying to fill my time with seeking God, building new experiences with my family, getting involved with my new church and being a better lady of the house. I know, I know…its only been three weeks and I want it to feel like its been 3 years! God is teaching me the art of being patient. My daddy always told me “Give away what you want to receive”. I have had a big lesson in this!! So, instead of trying to gain clients and get my business back–I am focusing on helping others in the industry around me and giving back some of the awesomeness that has been given to me over the years. I am not quite sure what the future holds, but that is exciting to me. Deep breathes and focusing on what is important. Family, Faith & Serving.
Welcome to our new home in NEW JERSEY 🙂 Cheers to Parsippany, NJ!
