Every once in a while you get the perfect combination of location and the perfect couple. This was one of those times. I was so excited to be shooting in my favorite city, Dallas! It was a sunny day in the Big D and we were on our way up the elevator to meet with the groom on the rooftop of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. As we unloaded the elevator in our all black and formal attire we were greeted by a bouncer. “I.D.’s please. There is a $20 cover.” I was in shock and gave him a questioning look. I could hear a thick bass coming from around the corner and the thud of a 4×4 beat. Where were we and what was going on? Jeff went back to the car to grab our I.D.’s. By this time the groom was talking to the bouncer and door man and figuring out the easiest way to get us in. They would not budge on the cover fee or the I.D.’s–so the groom excitedly payed for us all to get in and alas we would join the party. Upon opening the door but what should appear? A full blown DJ, bathing suit wearing rooftop pool party! Well, OK! Immediately we got tons of eyes on us. We were in all black wedding gear surrounded by bikinis and tattoos. Awkward! We got the hanging out shots we needed, danced for a few rounds and headed upstairs to finish the grooms photos. Hands down–one of the most unique and fun ways to start a wedding day. Loved it.
After the fun adventure we then headed over to the gorgeous A Loft Hotel. We were very limited on where we could shoot in this hotel, but luckily we had an amazing hallway across from the bride with really unique lighting. And the bride—oh my gosh. Absolutely gorgeous. The amazing floor to ceiling windows filled the room with a beautiful light as hairspray and perfumes filled the room. It was like a well orchestrated marathon. Everyone was on time- calm- organized. Can’t ask for anything better! This bride and groom were two of the most gracious we have had the privilege of working with. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate our team. It was only fair to say their family and friends were a mirror image of them. By the end of the day I felt like they were all MY friends 🙂 There were intimate moments of mom as she dressed her daughter and tears from friends as they watched their best friend prepare for her wedding day.
The wedding was held at the House of Blues in Dallas. What a crazy fun venue. We also shot their engagements here a few months back. The ceremony was full of their closest family and friends as they spoke their vows and committed to one another. It was super sweet. I was warned on how ‘cool’ their families were and I was blown away by their kindness. What a great crowd! The night was rockin’ as the IntensityBand led the night in AMAZING music. This was the greatest live band I have seen at a wedding. Rock solid. The Dancefloor was flooded before dinner was served. That’s how its done.
The most fun I have ever had at a wedding. I even got asked to dance 🙂 Congrats Sarah & Zach. It was an honor to share you day with you. We can’t wait to see your love grow and your journey continue.
Happy Marriage!
