This is a HIS & HERS kind of session… 🙂

What a rockin’ couple. I remember the exact feeling I got when I first met this couple. They had Jesus written all over them. It was clear to me the instant I met them that they were my clients…and my soon to be friends. I was so excited to shoot their wedding, but was notified many months later that due to a family members illness, they really wanted to do a quick wedding and would not be needing my services. I immediately said we still have to shoot together. Wedding or no wedding! We decided to not only shoot, but to really make this a photo session that reflected both him and her! Dominick is the guitarist for T.D Jakes church. Gah!! How cool! I’m already a fan! His style was EASILY reflected in the urban Deep Ellum. And we decided to really style up the second half of the session with a romantic tee-pee picnic!

REWIND!!!

I think its only fair to really tell how what went down on this session! First of all, it was 100 degrees outside in Texas. Gisela and I had been in constant contact for about a week pulling together props and ideas. We were so excited to see how it would all come together! The videographer and myself were waiting in Deep Ellum for the happy couple to arrive. My nerves were pretty high strung (as usual) out of pure excitement to style this shoot! I get a phone call saying they were on their way…then I got a phone call shortly after to only find out that they had been in an car accident! OMG. My heart sank. After all they have been through with their family and illness…all I wanted to give them was HAPPINESS! They were ok, but it was a pile up of cars and they had to stay and figure out what to do. About 30 minutes later they arrive and I am prepared that this could all go downhill quickly. I mean for goodness sakes- they had a car wreck! The bumper was missing and they looked a bit frazzled. Dominick went inside to wash the grease off his hands and Gisela explained what had happened. They were warriors! They were down to shoot and keep their plans. What troopers! I was prepared to do whatever their hearts desired. ON WE WENT! I looked into the sky and saw that big super duper bright moon and remembered it was what they call a “SUPER” moon. We didn’t let all that negative energy take away our joy. We overcame the situation and I just love these people and these photos. Precious.

Thank you Dominick & Gisela for pulling yourselves together and being so fantastic. You braved car crashes, 100 degree heat and all kinds of obstacles.

But..you did it.

You’re amazing.

xx
