Shooting weddings has become one of the greatest joys of our lives. It connects us with people on an emotional level through our art. The relationships we build on our journey blossom and spread seeds to many other future married couples. It really is one of the most amazing things we have experienced. Witnessing and supporting our brides and grooms is one of the most precious experiences to us. Its a lifelong friendship and we are so grateful for them. Melisa and Justin are no exception. Justin is a friend from “back in the day” and we ran into him and Melisa at another wedding we were shooting in Texas. It was so good to catch up and the two were not engaged yet. We were absolutely STOKED when they invited us to fly to Texas to share their wedding day with them!
It was a hot and sunny day in Texas. The girls were in a large suite atop the Mandalay. Light and laughter were filling the room as the girls buzzed around in their soft mint dresses. Melisa was all smiles and relaxed. The pups were even with us on wedding day! After hair and make up, we headed to the Canals at Las Colinas for portraits. The party bus ride over was one of the most fun I think we have been a part of! Champagne for ALL! There were probably 6 toasts just on the way to the Canals! 🙂 The wedding party- THE BEST. It was hot, windy and super bright. They could have complained and given us a hard time, but they were all in! So grateful for an amazing group to work with. So, we went with it! At one point we were in front of the mustangs and walking towards the bus. We were nearing the end of this portion of the shooting when WOOSH, off went the veil. It landed in the gushing water and one of the groomsmen decided it might be a good idea to disrobe and jump in for it. We quickly told him that would do no good and the wedding will go on without it. We watched as it went under the ripples of water with great regret. The bride cheered us all up and said, “Lets go!”.
The ceremony was packed full of loved ones. The florals at this wedding were absolutely stunning. Justin was gleaming at the end of the aisle as Melisa was dressed in all white a huge smile. It was a fun filled ceremony with a knot tying ceremony. The kids at this wedding were absolutely adorable! They always give room for humor and smiles during this happy time. When the ceremony ended, the party started. These people like to dance!!! We were totally cool with that. The lighting, the people, the music, the glow sticks and our amazing couple all added up to one phenomenal night.
We are so grateful that Justin and Melisa entrusted us with their special day. Being a part of their lives as photographers led us to be great friends. We couldn’t ask for more. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Wagoner, we look forward to watching your lives blossom.
