• Engagement

It was just three days before the weekend when I received a request for an engagement elopement session in New York. Jacqueline and Michael were coming into the city to look for the perfect destination location for their wedding next year. After landing in the NYC, they both dragged their luggage to hair and make up where Jacqueline would be glammed up for the shoot. Michael was stunning in his blue suit and orange bowtie and Jacqueline looked absolutely stunning with her curly blonde locks. These two look like they belong here! We literally met on a street corner and threw the luggage in our car as we headed out to run the streets of New York. It was a rough start. It was a Friday in the city at rush hour. Hair and make up ran over and had them both scrambling to get to us. But we all went chose to let it go and have a fantastic shoot. Michael and Jacqueline are both from TEXAS! Now, if you know anything about me you know 1. I’m from Texas 2. I love Kate Spade 3. Champagne is a meal 😀 While we were shooting I asked them how they found us… she said through searching hundreds of pages and blogs. She had no clue that Jeff and I were from the south! Texans Unite! It was so great to hear that familiar draw in their voice. It made me feel right at home instantly. These two are the sweetest!

We had all kinds of plans, but changed them last minute due to time, traffic and the light falling. So we ended up deciding to walk the streets of the city until we got to the subway drop. When we came out of the subway we headed towards the Brooklyn Bridge. It was dusk at this point and by the time we reached a place to shoot it was pretty much dark. This is one of my favorite times to shoot photography. The bridge was crowded with sightseeing folks, the bikes were zooming by and there I was laying on the ground on the white stripe that runs down the middle on my belly shooting up into the beams of the bridge. I’m crazy and I know it. Either way, it was fun to see the bridge at night and do something completely different. We then made the choice to walk the bridge to Brooklyn. It was a long walk…don’t get me wrong, but during that walk we got to know Jacqueline and Michael. That was my favorite part of the shoot. We laughed, talked about Texas, talked about how we eloped to NYC too… and the Uber back to the car was just plain fun. They won our hearts with their sweet smiles and zest for life.

We are so honored you chose us to spend the day with you. We are so thrilled and overjoyed that you’ll be saying your I do’s in our favorite city. Can’t wait!
