- Engagement
Fantastic. Complimentary. Lovely.
These two blew our minds. Let me go back to the beginning. In the days leading up to their original engagement date we were watching the weather hour by hour. The one request Rita asked for was SUN! The day of the shoot we started texting back and forth and she was at the salon getting her hair done. Total bummer- we had to reschedule our shoot. The rain had stayed and we really wanted that beautiful Fall sunny vibe. Fast forward 4 weeks and here we are! It was 79 degrees, sunny and practically perfect. As we drove up to meet them we were greeted with the biggest smiles and waves. I just LOVE our couples. They are all such positive, happy people. These two were no exception.
We sat in a restaurant as we waited for the sun to calm down. It was so funny when Rita called Pete out on being nervous. Nervous to the point that he needed a strong drink to calm down. HA! We always love chatting it up with our couples because often times, this is the first time we have ever met in person. What a perfect match these two are. For each other and us! BONUS! We jumped in the car and made our way over to Allaire Village. The sun, the trees, the old building and picnic theme were the perfect combo for an amazing engagement session. I always tell my couples that we will start with walking. And that is usually true. It’s the easiest way to warm up to the camera. Well, we walked straight over to a tree and took off Rita’s shoes and made them tight rope walk the tree. WHY? Mostly because I am crazy and secondly, because the light was AH-mazing. As we made our way to the picnic area I kept stopping because I would see a perfect opportunity. These two poor lovebirds thought I was half nuts and I’m assuming were ready to open their bottle of wine! The light was just stunning and I felt like a kid at Christmas.
We finally made our way to where the picnic would happen and we hear the park rangers calling out to the park to start packing up because the park was closing. So, naturally, we open the bottle of wine and continue to shoot. HA. The sun was falling, the park ranger was yelling and we were shooting. A few moments later he came by and stopped to remind us that we were to be packing up. Jeff began folding a blanket and I continued to shoot. Then we he made his way back around again–we all pretended to pack. Then kept shooting. HAHA When we finally made our way back to the parking lot to load our things we saw the rangers drive into the park for one last round. So, what do you think we did? Yep, we pulled out the blankets and shot a few last minute things I had in mind. Finally, the park rangers were back and we decided to call it a night. We hopped in our cars and started on our way back home. That is when we saw the most gorgeous field and the sun setting!!!!!!
After a few back and forth “Do you think they would turn around? For MORE photos?”- we called them. OF COURSE, they said! We all turned around and raced for the light! I landed in a huge sticker patch and found it quite comical that neither of these city folk new what a “sticker” was. Painful as they were- we finished the shoot with high fives and hugs. It was one of the most adventurous and fun engagements. Thanks to Rita & Pete for being so much fun.
Congrats!
